INGREDIENTs highlight
This recipe is great for hair moisture and conditioning.
How this recipe works
This conditioner works on multiple levels. The protein in the egg yolk fills in weaknesses in the hair strand, making it stronger. The olive oil lubricates and moisturizes the hair, making it softer. Honey acts as a humectant, drawing moisture from the air into the hair, enhancing the hydrating effects.
caution: before you begin
This recipe contains raw egg. Use fresh ingredients. Crucially, when rinsing, use only lukewarm or cool water. Hot water can cook the egg in your hair, making it difficult to remove. This mixture can be sticky; apply it over a sink or in the shower.
CAUTION: Allergens
Contains: Eggs.
Tools & UTENSILS
what you will need
• Egg Yolk: Rich in proteins, vitamins, and lecithin (a natural emulsifier), it helps strengthen the hair shaft and adds shine. • Olive Oil: A deeply penetrating oil packed with fatty acids that moisturize and soften hair. • Raw Honey: A natural humectant, meaning it attracts and seals moisture into the hair.
ingredients
• Egg yolk • Cold processed olive oil • Raw honey
• 1 egg yolk • 112 g / 4 oz • 340 g / 12 oz
how to make it
1. Prep Hair: Thoroughly comb or brush any tangles out of your dry hair. 2. Mix Conditioner: In a bowl, beat the egg yolk into the olive oil until combined. Slowly blend this mixture into the honey, whisking until smooth. 3. Apply: Massage the mixture thoroughly into your scalp and work it down through the lengths of your hair. 4. Wait: Cover your hair with a plastic cap or bag and let the conditioner soak in for at least 30 minutes. 5. Rinse & Wash: Shampoo your hair twice to remove all of the oil. Rinse thoroughly. For a final rinse, use an Apple Cider Vinegar solution.
Pro-tip
Rinsing Tip: To help break down the oil, apply shampoo to your hair before getting it wet, massage it in, then add water and lather. Scent: If desired, add 2-3 drops of a hair-friendly essential oil like lavender or rosemary to the mixture.

Frequently asked questions
Dislacimer
Dislacimer
Is this safe to use on color-treated hair?
Yes, these natural ingredients are generally safe for color-treated hair and can help restore moisture lost during the coloring process. As with any treatment, you can do a strand test if you are concerned.
Dislacimer
Can I use a different oil besides olive oil?
Yes. You could substitute with another hair-healthy oil like avocado oil, jojoba oil, or sweet almond oil.
Dislacimer
Why do I need to shampoo twice after?
Olive oil is a heavy oil. The first shampoo breaks down most of the oil and honey, and the second shampoo cleanses any remaining residue from your hair and scalp, ensuring your hair is clean and not weighed down.
Dislacimer
What is an Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) rinse?
An ACV rinse (typically 1 part ACV to 3 parts water) is used as a final rinse to help flatten the hair cuticle, which enhances shine and helps to remove any final traces of product residue.
